The art of kokedoma originated 500 years ago by Japanese Artists who wanted to stay connected to the forest even though they could no longer live near it. In Japanese culture, moss is used as a metaphor for the passage of time, longevity, something that stays in one place and becomes one with its surroundings. The word kokedoma literally means plant in moss. This planting style allows you to grow your plant wrapped in moss rather than a pot. You can hang your plant in a window or place it on a plate and place on a shelf with light!
